VLC overhauls, repairs, and upgrades steam engines from any manufacturer, but specializes in the former Skinner Engine Company's family of steam engines. We also offer single-stage and multi-stage steam turbines.

Cogeneration with Skinner Engine Returns to Northeastern Furniture Plant

Cogeneration has played a vital role to the success of one of America’s oldest furniture factories in continuous operation. Since 1949, a Skinner Universal Unaflow with a 500kW generator has provided electricity as a byproduct of providing steam to the plant’s operations. The last ten years of continuous operation following the rebuild of the Skinner in 1994 were extremely successful.
